Drupal 7 is on its 2nd RC version today so it's definitely time to give it a try. Which coincided nicely with some thinking it was time to dust off and refurbish the very first URL I started off with on the big ol' WWW. Downloading and installing Drupal 7 was about as easy as could be -- almost as easy as the famously easy Wordpress install. That's going to be pretty big for Drupal making inroads into being more accessible to users than its past reputation as mainly for developers (Drupal 6 already went a good ways forward in that direction). I hope I get enough time to sit down and bang out my own semi-custom theme for this site but for now I threw the "Titan" Newswire theme up here (not a huge fan of the default Bartek theme but than I wasn't a big fan of Drupal 6's Garland theme either). Since everything is still in development or alpha release for this version of Drupal I have to expect things to break, but I suspect it won't be as bad as when I jumped to Drupal 6 where there was some breakage early on. In any event this URL doesn't get much traffic anymore so it's a good spot to play around with things as they get released.
NOTES
The very useful "INSERT" module is not quite ready for use (as in it currently breaks the site) -- fingers crossed the patch on this thread works and that the developer includes it in an official version soon.
Tried adding DISQUS comments to the site as well - everything seems to be working except that it's not. Hmmm....
